Institute classes focus on orthopedic assessment, clinical anatomy, and advanced manual therapy, including soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization and muscle energy technique. Classes also focus on the development of the student’s ability to stay relaxed to allow for greater healing energy to flow through their body.

Hendrickson Method Practitioner Certification

Hendrickson Method Institute’s hallmark training culminates in the title Hendrickson Method Practitioner. This training takes place in Berkeley, CA and consists of 6, 4-day modules. The modules are taught three times per year, over a two-year period. Students may take the Hendrickson Method Certification Training straight through, over the course of twenty-four months, or may train over a longer period, taking one module at a time as their schedule permits. Each module is worth 28 NCBTMB-approved CEU’s. Please refer to the Certification Trainings page for more information.

Hendrickson Method Therapist Certification

Students wishing to deepen their expertise in Hendrickson Method after completing the Professional Certification training are encouraged to continue their studies in HM by taking an additional 168 hours of training. This training consists of taking the series of six modules a second time. At the end of this training, students may take a written and practical test to earn the title Hendrickson Method Therapist. Students pursuing Therapist Certification may take the second series of six modules over the course of twenty-four months or may train over a longer period, taking one module at a time as their schedule permits.

Students of all levels attend class together, however students seeking Therapist Certification are responsible for a deeper understanding of the science of musculoskeletal dysfunction and demonstrating an expanded use of the Hendrickson Method system of therapy. The Therapist level of Hendrickson Method Certification training provides students with a degree of competency and effectiveness that is rare in manual therapy trainings. Graduates experience a profound increase in their ability to effectively treat clients in acute and chronic pain.

Continuing Education

Hendrickson Method Institute offers a number of continuing education classes and workshops that are approved by National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). One of the most popular is Clinical Applications.

Clinical Applications

Hendrickson Method Practitioners and Therapists are invited to attend this class to support the deepening of their HM skills and to have another opportunity to work alongside Dr. Hendrickson. Seven NCBTMB-approved CE’s are earned for each Clinical Applications class taken.

Introductory Workshops

HMI occasionally offers Introductory Workshops in other cities in addition to Berkeley.

Trainings in England
