Dr. Tom Hendrickson
Dr. Tom Hendrickson has been in private practice for thirty years. During this time, he has treated over 150,000 patients and is a renowned authority in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. He has been voted one of the best chiropractors in the Bay Area (“Best of the Bay”) by his peers.
Dr. Hendrickson is also the founder and President of the Hendrickson Method® Institute where he teaches his unique style of soft tissue therapy to health care providers. The doctors and massage therapists at the Hendrickson Clinic all perform the Hendrickson Method of Massage and Manual Therapy in their treatments. Dr. Hendrickson’s textbook, Massage and Manual Therapy for Orthopedic Conditions (LW&W, 2009), is now in its second edition and published in five languages. It describes his unique method of treatment, and synthesizes his insights of energy medicine with the latest scientific research in orthopedics. An instructional DVD about his method of treatment will be available in September 2010.
Dr. Hendrickson believes that optimum health comes from the vitality of mind, body, and spirit. For over thirty years he has incorporated yoga, Tai Chi, meditation, and prayer into a daily practice. He has also studied herbal medicine and nutrition and is a firm believer that a wholesome diet and supplements are keys to health.
Dr. Shin Aoki
Dr. Shin Aoki received his Chiropractic training at Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose, CA. He is also certified as a Chiropractic Sports Practitioner by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. Dr. Aoki has completed advanced training in the Hendrickson Method of Orthopedic Massage and Manual Therapy. He’s also certified in Active Release Techniques® for the spine and extremities. He enjoys his practice and teaching of Shintaido, a transformative martial art and moving meditation.
Dr. Michelle Scatina
Dr. Michelle Scatina is a graduate of Life Chiropractic College West. She incorporates traditional chiropractic adjusting with the very gentle techniques of craniosacral work and Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT). Dr. Scatina has been trained in the Hendrickson Method of Orthopedic Massage and Manual Therapy. She has also trained in neurological reeducation. In addition to providing care for adults, Dr. Scatina specializes in pediatric chiropractic care, treating children of all ages.
Our Massage Therapists
Ryn offers caring, compassionate, skillful touch integrating the Hendrickson Method of Orthopedic Massage and functional rehabilitation with Traditional Asian Medicine/Acupressure. She has been working at the Hendrickson Clinic since late 2007 and has a private practice in Oakland’s Dimond District.
Ryn loves doing bodywork as it has been deeply effective in her own life sine 1984, and she is grateful to now be able to offer it to others. Ryn says, “It brings me pleasure and purpose to contribute to the health of those I touch and offer relief from pain.” She began practicing bodywork for fun, health and connection as an avocation in 1986 practicing first Polarity Therapy combined with Lomi Deep Tissue work, and then studying 3 years of Rosen Method bodywork and movement. She’s been training and studying with Dr. Hendrickson since 2006 practicing his incredible and highly effective Orthopedic Massage and Manual Therapy. She first came across his work in 1993 when she had her own soft tissue injury in her upper body and found great relief. She’s also completed over 1000 hours of study in Traditional Asian Medicine and Acupressure does continuing education coursework in both modalities, in addition maintaining active Qi Gong and meditation practices.
Qilo (ky-lo), CMP, focuses on bodies in motion though dance, the Hendrickson Method®, and an early love of physics. A down-to-earth body-geek from North Carolina, she draws from an extensive movement background to help people feel more comfortable in their bodies. After receiving a BFA in Dance in 2002, she studied Dynamic Embodiment – Somatic Movement Therapy and Swedish Massage through Moving on Center in Oakland. Drawn to the Hendrickson Method for its gentle clarity and effectiveness, Qilo used a combination of HM and Pilates to recover from years of dance injuries and chronic fatigue and in June 2014, graduated as a Hendrickson Method Therapist. She teaches how to self-advocate for one’s body and strives to improve access to healthcare by working with people within many communities in both her own Berkeley-based practice and at the Hendrickson clinic. Qilo continues to improvise and choreograph, and loves bikes, long hikes, and vegetable gardens.
Sigal was drawn to Hendrickson Method’s gentle yet effective treatment for chronic pain and nervous system rehabilitation. She has deep appreciation for the importance of integrating both physical and emotional well being for optimum health. Prior to HM she studied at Avalon School of Massage Therapy in Walnut Creek CA where she learned Swedish massage, deep tissue reflexology and aromatherapy. She works at the Hendrickson Clinic two days per week as well as maintaining a private practice in Berkeley, CA.
Sigal grew up on a farming kibbutz in Israel. She enjoys growing her own vegetables and riding horses with her two teenage boys. Sigal shares that one thing she loves about HM is the opportunity to listen as patients communicate through their bodies.
Before becoming a California certified massage therapist, Linda worked as a graphic designer. Eventually, living in front of computer took a real toll and she began her bodywork training in earnest at McKinnon BTC in 2003. She studied Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Jin Shin and CranioSacral and is also a certified Lymphatic Therapist. Linda became passionate about Hendrickson Method® after getting relief from years of pain due to old injuries. She loves that Hendrickson Method so effectively and gently helps people of all ages live with more ease in their own bodies. Linda practices one day a week at the Hendrickson Clinic and maintains a private office in Albany. When she is not working Linda practices yoga, and chi gung, hikes and enjoys poetry.
Luke is a California certified massage therapist and nationally licensed Ayurveda Health Counselor with over 1100 hours of massage training in the Hendrickson Method®, orthopedic tui na, acupressure, and other techniques. Luke began his studies with Dr. Hendrickson in 2011 and continues to be amazed by the profound results that Hendrickson Method® provides to his clients and practice. In addition to working at the Hendrickson Clinic, Luke maintains a private practice in Oakland and teaches Hatha and Tibetan yoga throughout California. He is currently enrolled in a four-year clinical practitioner program at Shubham Ayurveda, which will further supplement his integrated bodywork, yoga, and traditional medicine practice. When not working or studying, he enjoys singing, listening to music, dancing, and being in nature.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Jeremy brings over 14 years of massage therapy experience to his Hendrickson Method practice. He began studying HM with Dr Tom Hendrickson in 2015 and finds it so profound and healing that he is determined to bring the work to as many people as possible.
Jeremy began his manual therapy studies at the Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, MA. He has studied deep tissue, craniosacral, pre- and postnatal pregnancy massage, reflexology and Qi Hara method. He uses compassionate, honest communication to meet patients where they are in their journey towards wellness. He finds that as each year passes his knowledge deepens and he becomes more excited about doing bodywork.

Claudia Moore | Manager
Claudia has been managing the Hendrickson Clinic for over 25 years. Beginning in 1989 with Dr. Hendrickson and one massage therapist practicing at the Office, she has helped Tom transition into a busy and very successful clinic with 3 chiropractors, multiple massage therapists, and two office staff. Her deep commitment to service has made the calm and healing energy in the clinic a first priority. When not at the clinic, Claudia is busy in her studio working as a leaf artist.
Elaine joined our clinic in 2007 as a part time office assistant. Her ease and facility with patient care, and clerical duties make her a much-valued asset to our staff. She continues to deepen her connection with chiropractic care and the Hendrickson Method as she is exposed to the many alternatives available for healing at the clinic. Elaine hails from over the pond but has made California her home where she and her husband are raising their two children.
Jeanette joined the Hendrickson Clinic in 2012. She splits her time between the clinic front office and administrative duties for the Hendrickson Method Institute, Dr. Hendrickson’s school for Hendrickson Method Manual Therapy. She is committed to providing excellent service to our patients. Jeanette and her husband are both cat lovers and video game enthusiasts. Jeanette also enjoys cooking and trying new recipes—sometimes she even follows them!
